Learn about different types of fish food and what makes a healthy water habitat.

Marjorie explains that the museum has a good water habitat with clean, non-polluted water that supports many different types of fish that eat different things.

Marjorie feeds the fish three types of small sea creatures: Daphnia (tiny crustaceans), brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp. She feeds both bottom and top areas.

Marjorie feeds the fish blood worms (tiny red worms) and algae chips (made from plants) for fish that like to eat plants.

Marjorie feeds superworms and mealworms to the fish. She explains that in a healthy ecosystem, different species eat different things so they don't compete with each other.

Marjorie explains that scientists can tell if a river or lake is healthy by counting how many different types of fish live there. More types of fish means a healthier ecosystem.
